We’re halfway through the first week of October and you know what that means! We’re only a couple days away from CSU’s homecoming weekend! The weekend will be filled with fun events not only for you but for the entire family.

In order to get you ready for the upcoming fun weekend, we’ve put together a short list of events you can look forward to!

 

 

Friday, October 7

10:30 AM: 50 Year Club Luncheon

This event is open to CSU graduates of 50+ years. During the time of Luncheon, the CSU class of 1966 will be inducted into the 50 Year Club of CSU. The Outstanding Achievement Awards will also be given out during the time of the event, honoring two alumni individuals.

The luncheon will take place at the Hilton Fort Collins at 425 W. Prospect Road in Fort Collins

 

1:30 PM: Housing Options after Students First Year

Do you have children who are first years at CSU? If so, this is an event you won’t want to miss. The informative presentation will be given by representatives from CSU’s offices of Off-Campus Life, Residence Life, Apartment Life and representatives from the City of Fort Collins and Re/Max. Whether your child plans to stay on or go off campus, the presentation will insight to both you and your children.

The event will take place at CSU’s Lory Student Center Theater.

 

3:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Festival on the Oval

This is when the day starts picking up! Getting ready to watch the CSU Homecoming Parade, the event that is open to the public is sure to be a fun time for all ages. The festival includes live music, activities for children, a beer garden and food trucks. While the event itself is free, the food and beer are not, unfortunately.

If the name hadn’t already given it way, the event takes place on the CSU oval.

 

4:30 PM: Homecoming Parade

The parade starts at Howes and Oak as it winds through the oval to the West Lawn. An annual tradition bringing together the campus and community, the parade will include the CSU marching band, community floats, university floats and more! The co-grand marshals for this year’s parade include Blanche Hughes, CSU VP of Student Affairs, and Polly Blaca, the first Latina to serve in both houses of the Colorado General Assembly. Have a blast while watching different floats pass on by and be on the lookout for the CSU Model T we shared with you all via Instagram a couple months ago.

 

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Friday Night Lights

While the homecoming parade ends, the night begins with a pep rally get ready for the big game on Saturday! Taking place on the west lawn of the CSU campus, the event is open to the public and will include a bonfire, fireworks, and the lighting of the A. The night always brings in a large crowd as the community and past and present CSU students come together.

 

Saturday, October 8 

8:00 AM: Homecoming 5k Race

Wake up nice and early and start your day off with a run! Starting at the oval, get ready for a race that goes around the beautiful campus that is CSU. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages. There will also be a free Kids Fun Run, led by Cam the Ram, at 9:00 AM.

 

4:00 PM: Homecoming and Family Weekend Tailgate 

Get ready for the event of the weekend, the CSU football game against Utah State by celebrating ram pride with alumni, family, friends and your fellow Ram fans! Listen on to the live music and enjoy the great food that will be there! There will also be other tailgates happening for the start of the game.

The event will be at the Alumni Association Tent at Ram Town at Hughes Stadium and tickets can be bought through CSU Athletics.

 

8:00 PM: Homecoming Football Game

Located at Hughes Stadium, this event does not require much explanation. Cheer on your CSU Rams while they face off against Utah State! Don’t forget to buy your tickets here if you haven’t already.
