Mondays are tough. After a relaxing weekend, the start of the week poses new challenges with work, life and family. Fortunately, there is one perk to combat the Monday blues.
According to a new study released by GasBuddy, a company that connects drivers with gas station convenience stores to optimize their commutes, Mondays are the best day to save money at the pump.
In its analysis of gas price data from January 2019 to March 2019, GasBuddy discovered Mondays have the lowest average gas price in 30 states. Colorado is among the states where Monday is the best day to buy gas, and a full list of states and cities can be found here.
The first day of the work week also proves to have little wait, if any, to fill up on gas, making it another reason to hit the pumps that day. According to a previous GasBuddy study, 2018 and 2017 also showed Monday was the best day to buy gas those years.
So what is the worst day to buy gas? The study found Saturdays have the highest average gas price in 16 states. The rest of the weekend isn’t ideal either, and Sunday is the worst day to buy gas in Colorado.
To assess wait times at the pump, GasBuddy analyzed GasBuddy foot traffic data from January 2019 to March 2019. While Sundays prove to be the best day to avoid lines, Mondays are still the most effective at saving both money and time.
With Monday morning specifically being the best time to avoid the lines, commuters can start their week off right by filling up on the way to work and crossing one challenge off the list.
